OATH OF ESTABLISHING THE KINHTHIEN.ORG SITE
Namo the Ever-Abiding Three Jewels in the Ten Directions.
Namo our Fundamental Teacher Śākyamuni Buddha.
Namo Amitābha Buddha.
Before the vast and boundless Heaven above,
Beneath the profound and solemn Earth below,
Above, relying on the majestic virtue of the Three Jewels,
Below, announcing to the divine spirits of the ten directions,
We now bow our heads in reverence, make this vow, and establish this oath.
We establish Kinhthien.org
not for fame or status,
not for profit or gain,
but solely to revere Heaven while upholding the Way,
to honor virtue while exhorting others,
taking Cause and Effect as the root,
taking Moral Principles as the standard.
We vow to use words and writings as a mirror to illuminate the mind,
never using cunning speech to deceive people's hearts;
We vow to speak only what accords with the Way,
never uttering words contrary to truth, even if profit is at hand.
When writing of goodness, the heart seeks no reward;
When speaking of evil, the words harbor no poison;
When discussing evil, the mind harbors no resentment.
We shall not bend Cause and Effect to indulge worldly customs,
nor obscure the Heavenly Way to seek personal ease.
If a single word written goes against conscience,
may the Three Jewels bear witness;
If a single thought arises for selfish gain,
may Heaven and Earth examine it.
We vow: when the mind is not yet pure, to cease writing;
when virtue is not yet sufficient, to remain silent;
Better to be silent and preserve the Way
than to speak and harm others.
Those with affinity who read these words will naturally awaken their minds;
Those not yet in accord—we harbor no dispute, no resentment.
We only wish that every word transmitted
be without shame before Heaven,
without disgrace before Earth,
without deceit toward conscience.
If this oath is fully upheld,
may the site endure long,
serving as a modest wholesome affinity amid this age of Dharma-ending;
If this oath is betrayed,
may these words and writings naturally fade away,
lest they disturb the Way and diminish the blessings of those who come after.
This oath has been made.
We humbly beseech the Three Jewels to bear witness,
Heaven and Earth to testify.
Namo the Great Witnessing Master Bodhisattva Mahāsattva as the great certifier.
